Harrison aspires to leadership in the healthcare community. He is studying biomedical
engineering and will attend the Maine Track of the Tufts University School of

shine a light on access to healthcare services for underserved rural Americans. He is
dedicated to solving the shortage of doctors in the US, especially in the state of
Maine. As a Laidlaw scholar, Harrison has conducted research at Massachusetts
General Hospital building a balance measurement device and conducted a research
exchange with Dong-A University in Busan, South Korea. He has been a TA since
sophomore year for courses across the BME, CEE, and Chemistry departments.
Multiple conferences accepted his work for presentation, which gained recognition as
a finalist in a poster competition for the American Association for the Advancement of
Science. He also gained recognition as a final candidate for the nationally competitive
Truman Scholarship. During the COVID-19 Pandemic he worked as an EMT near his
hometown in Maine, gaining invaluable experience providing medical care to
underserved populations. Harrison’s close work with his professors and mentors has
broadened his understanding of the unique challenges that rural healthcare presents.
Harrison believes that everyone, regardless of where they live, deserves access to
quality healthcare, and he will continue to work tirelessly to make that a reality.
