Tufts Service Citation

Dan Kaplan has co-chaired the Tufts Foster Children’s Party Committee since shortly after graduating from Tufts in 1996.  Since graduating with a B.A. in Computer Science, Dan has held a variety of software engineering and leadership roles in Boston-area technology companies.  His work has focused on diverse areas of technology ranging from developing early web collaboration software to embedded cryptography products. Currently he serves as Deputy CIO at Harvard Law School, leading an engineering team focused on meeting the school’s growing technology needs.

Outside of work, Dan’s passion is community service, which makes his involvement with the Foster Children’s Committee a natural fit.  He also serves on the Executive Committee for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation New England Take Steps event, recently chairing the committee for three years.  Through this work, he has helped to raise substantial funds for research into new treatments and cures for these diseases. For the past four years, Dan has also worked with a local group helping to re-settle Afghan refugees in the United States.

While keeping busy with work and volunteering, Dan’s focus always comes back to his family.  He is the proud father of twin daughters who are currently attending Tufts, and devoted husband to his wife, a fellow Jumbo.
