Javier Macaya is a Europe and Americas-based strategic and M&A advisor, Non-Executive Director and Investor. Javier has a thirty-year investment banking career in New York City and London where he has worked at JP Morgan, James D Wolfensohn Inc and Goldman Sachs, where he headed Latin American Investment Banking Services. Javier also founded Athelera LLC, a middle-market focused M&A boutique with offices in New York, London and Bogota that he successfully led for over 15 years. During his career Javier has represented clients in transactions valued at over $20 billion, acting as financial advisor to many leading companies, entrepreneurs and family groups throughout the Americas and Europe with interests in the media, financial services, technology, basic minerals industry, consumer products, telecommunications, technology and retail.
Javier has served as a Director in a number of public and private companies and is currently an independent Director of the Pan-American financial services group Compass Group Holdings and Venezuela’s leading telecommunications Company Corporacion Digitel S.A.. Javier has also served on the board of Zug-based oil and gas and metals trader Arrow Resources, Spain-based logistics group SGEL, and Mexico-based and NYSE-listed affordable income housing developer Corporacion Geo S.A. de C.V.. He also serves on the Tisch Board and the international board of his alma mater, Tufts University. Javier earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Quantitative Economics in 1991. Javier currently resides in London, UK and is a citizen of Spain.
