Scott Reed was born in Columbus, Ohio, and raised in the Boston area. He attended Tufts University and graduated with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1979. Following graduation, he began a 40-year career at GE’s Aircraft Engines facility in Lynn, MA retiring in 2019. Primarily working in program management supplying turbine engines to the US Government as well as numerous international customers. From 1999-2019 worked with the US Military supplying helicopter engines to all branches of the US Services. While working full time, Scott embarked upon a law degree, receiving his Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University in 1985, now a retired member of the Massachusetts bar.
Around 1985 joined the Boston Tufts alumni team coordinating the Tufts Foster Children Holiday party. Tufts team works with the DCF (MA Department of Children and Family) to identify Foster Children from the local communities. Team hosts a party with gifts, books, food and entrainment. For nearly 40 years Scott was involved in all aspects of running this party: gifts, books, food, fundraising, coordinating volunteers and co-chairing the event for many years. Around 2015 the team added a summer picnic event to further support the foster children. All this activity is funded and coordinated by volunteers, Tufts Students and Alumni.
Scott is married to Katherine and resides in Boxford, Massachusetts. They have two cool “kids”, Charlotte (36) and Nick Hemmerly of West Palm Beach FLA and Teddy (35) and Beca Reed of Manhattan, NY. Recently added two grandkids: Campbell (1 year) and Sip (2 years). Scott enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, cars, golfing and his yellow Lab (Keeper).
