STATEMENT:
I believe I can offer a unique perspective to Tufts, and I’m eager to give back to the university that has shaped me into the person I am today. Recently, I donated $250,000 USD through E Ink Corp, where I serve as Chairman and CEO, to name the "E Ink Collaborative Space" in the Joyce Cummings Center.
When I arrived at Tufts in 1994, I was like many other new college students, trying to find my place in the world. Tufts provided a platform that allowed me to experiment and explore, meeting incredible people along the way. It was at Tufts that I first encountered the burgeoning world of the internet. I learned about computers and began coding in the library's basement computer lab. This eye-opening experience led me to create a software program to track and trade stocks by gathering news tips from the internet.
With the experience I gained, I launched my own startup upon graduating in 1998. Although I didn’t always focus on academics, the invaluable lessons learned from professors and peers outside the classroom played a crucial role in shaping my future.
Today, I lead a company with a market capitalization of $10 billion, one of the top 20 companies in Taiwan by market value. Over the past four years, our company’s market cap has increased tenfold. In 2024, I was honored to be named one of the 50 most influential people in Taiwan by Wealth Magazine and was awarded the 6th Presidential Innovation Award by Taiwan’s President. In 2023, I received the prestigious ERSO Award from the Pan Wen Yuan Foundation, one of Taiwan’s top honors in the semiconductor industry.
I am eager to join the Alumni Trustee Council to collaborate with fellow members in making Tufts an even better place for future generations.
