Statistics have shown that the BAME community experiences higher susceptibility, severity and mortality from COVID-19. We are excited to welcome Dean Daniel Jay of GSBS (Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, Tufts University) and Ndidiamaka Amutah-Onukagha, Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health and Community Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine and Chair of the Diversity, Equity and Anti-Racism Council in the PHPD.

They will explore whether the disproportionate impact of COVID 19 on the BAME communities is due to biological or social factors. There is no doubt that the pandemic has highlighted social inequities amongst many in these communities, which is a good thing. But, does this focus obscure or inhibit scientific investigation of biological differences between different races. There will be time after the panel, to ask questions and discuss issues with the panelists. We hope you will be able to join us for this thought provoking event.

This event is presented by the Tufts Alumni London Chapter and the Diversity, Equity, and Anti-Racism (DEAR) Council.
