Bios:

Reem Assil is a chef and owner of Reem’s California in Oakland, California, inspired by her passion for the flavors of Arab street-corner bakeries and vibrant communities surrounding them. Before dedicating herself to a culinary career, Reem spent a decade as a community and labor organizer in the Bay Area, and is guided by social justice values in the work she does. Reem was a 2018 & 2019 James Beard Semi-Finalist for Best Chef West, Star Chefs 2019 Rising Star Restaurateur, San Francisco Magazine and Thrillest 2019 Chef of the Year, and San Francisco Chronicle's 2017 Rising Star Chef.

Arun Gupta is the executive chef at DOSA, working with locally sourced produce to create dishes with traditional Indian flavors. Prior to moving to San Francisco, Arun was in the restaurant industry in NYC for over a decade, first at Gramercy Tavern, and then Chef de Cuisine at Maysville. Arun has always focused on using fresh ingredients and developing strong connections with farmers. Arun first fell in love with cooking while studying abroad in France. After a semester of long dinners with his French host family, Arun got the bug and started cooking for himself and his friends.
