Guantanamo has been open for almost 20 years to imprison people captured in the "war on terror." Today, 40 men continue to be detained there, including 6 who were cleared for release years ago. The military commissions, which were established by the Bush administration to prosecute detainees and then slightly modified by the Obama administration, are a legal debacle. Lisa Hajjar, J83, has been to Guantanamo 13 times as a journalist. In this talk, Lisa will share some observations about the detention facility, the treatment of prisoners, and the workings of the commissions.
