Alumni, parents and friends of Tufts – on November 12, please join us for a unique look into the world of Asian elephant conservation and rescue efforts through the lens of renowned documentary, “Love and Bananas.” We will dive into discussion with the actress who starred in and directed the film, Ashley Bell, and cover topics such as how and why she become involved with this mission; the process of making the film (hint: it took more than 5 years!), the impact it has had and how we can do our part to ensure this majestic creatures don’t go extinct.

Also joining us will be Danielle Carnahan, VG19, who did her externship at a northern Thai sanctuary last summer and studied PTSD in Asian elephants. Of the 11 elephants she studied, more than half were found to have symptoms of trauma. Danielle will discuss her work and what she took away from the experience.

The conversation will be moderated by Chris Whittier, V97, Director of the MS in Conservation Medicine Program at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine.
