This event is open to alumni and students. Please join us for this informative panel session and open conversation about the value of partnering with recruitment and staffing agencies to support your job search in this current challenging recruitment market. In this 1-hour session, we will be joined by company representatives and a Tufts alumna to discuss the myths and realities of working with a recruiting agency and will cover the questions below and many others. This event will include a Tufts alumna from Solomon Page in New York City, and reps from Beacon Hill Staffing Agency and Creative Circle in Boston, MA.
• What services does a recruiting agency provide to recent graduates and seasoned professionals?
• What types of positions are typically found through agencies (full-time, contract, gig, etc.)?
• Does it cost anything to use an agency?
• Do they only support certain industries?
• What type of employers hire through agencies?
• How should candidates engage with recruitment agencies based on the types of roles they are interested in applying to?
Sheri Sakin, J86 and Vice President, Recruiting and Staffing for Solomon Page:
Sheri graduated from Tufts in1986 with a double major in Psychology and Spanish. She was accepted into the Macy's Executive Training program in New York where she gained her experience in buying and merchandising in the fashion industry. She moved into a role that focused more on the corporate/wholesale side of fashion and worked for many years at Liz Claiborne (large women's apparel brand). She left this role to run a licensed division of Oscar De La Renta. From there she leveraged her knowledge of the industry to work in fashion recruiting in New York City and has been working at Solomon Page for almost 10 years, where she is currently the VP of Recruiting for the Fashion, Beauty and Consumer Goods Division. Sheri is also a committed volunteer, serving as co-chair of the Alumni Council's Career Services Committee.
