2022 Concert Theme:
Tufts Night at Pops celebrates a return to live concerts with the music of three essential American composers. Duke Ellington’s tone poem Harlem pulsates with the rhythmic energy of the 1920s, bringing the African influences of jazz to the orchestra. They pay tribute to Stephen Sondheim, an incandescent genius of Broadway, and Alan Menken, the legendary composer of Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid, who brought beloved musicals to the movie theater as well. Finally, the Pops continues its season-long celebration of our own musical luminary John Williams, who turns 90 this year.
