Cyber attacks on private companies and government agencies have continued to increase in frequency and size. The speakers will focus on the statutory and regulatory implications for companies, including in preparing for and responding to cyber attacks.
This is a bring your own lunch event but soft drinks will be provided.
This course will fulfill one hour of CLE credit.

Joseph P. Facciponti, Murphy & McGonigle
Mr. Facciponti leads Murphy & McGonigle’s Cybersecurity, Cybercrime, & Incident Response Practice. He is former federal prosecutor with in-house experience who has worked extensively in counseling clients on cybersecurity, data breaches and data privacy. For nearly nine years, Mr. Facciponti was a prosecutor at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, where he handled complex and high-profile cases involving financial and computer crimes including computer hacking and intellectual property theft. He received an FBI Director’s Award for outstanding cyber investigation, based on his work in investigating and disrupting a major international computer hacking ring that targeted financial institutions.
After leaving the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Mr. Facciponti held a supervisory position in the legal department of HSBC. where he was responsible for leading global internal investigations of matters.
Mr. Facciponti teaches a cyber law course at Cornell University’s Tech Campus on Roosevelt Island and is Chair of the Cybercrime Subcommittee of the New York City Bar Association’s Information Technology and Cyber Law Committee.
Steven D. Feldman, Murphy & McGonigle
Steven Feldman is a member of Murphy & McGonigle’s Cybersecurity, Cybercrime, & Incident Response Practice. Skilled as both a defense attorney and a prosecutor, Mr. Feldman has extensive experience in public corruption prosecutions, business crime matters, cybercrime, art and cultural object related crimes, health care fraud cases, and cases arising under the federal securities laws. Prior to private practice, Mr. Feldman spent more than six years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York in Manhattan. During his last four years as a federal criminal prosecutor, he served on the office’s Securities and Commodities Fraud Task Force.
He has spearheaded the creation of the Murphy & McGonigle iPhone and Android app, M&M Defend, which provides guidelines to arm individuals and companies with resources for critical law enforcement encounters.
Mr. Feldman has been recognized by Martindale-Hubbell with its AV Preeminent ranking, the peer-rated highest level of professional excellence.
Trecia Pessoa, V.P. and Senior Managing Counsel, Credit, Debit & ATM Products, Mastercard
Trecia Pessoa is Vice President and Senior Managing Counsel for, Mastercard’s global credit, debit & ATM products. In this role, she oversees global legal strategy and is the lead legal and regulatory advisor for the business’ strategic objectives. Prior to joining Mastercard, Trecia served as in-house counsel in the financial services, technology and hospitality industries and began her career as an associate at national law firms where her practice focused on corporate and financing transactions. She is a former adjunct professor of legal research and writing.
Trecia provides pro bono legal services to low income clients in wills and estate planning, immigration, child support and adoption matters and leads a team of volunteer mentors to female high school students. Trecia earned her B.A. from Tufts University and received her J.D. from The George Washington University Law School.
