Unlocking Opportunities for Undergraduate Students through Financial Aid
Tufts is committed to affording access to exceptional students based not on their ability to pay, but on their ability—pure and simple. Our exceptional students are our most valuable resource, and our commitment to them remains true: to create a vibrant and diverse intellectual community where students can deepen and broaden their lives, their perspectives, and their dreams.
You Are Part of Every Story
In fall 2020, two couples, all parents of Tufts students and one a trustee, funded an $8.5 million gift that matched endowed scholarship gifts of $50,000 to $500,000—dollar for dollar. Their goal: to inspire others to join them to ensure that a Tufts education continues to be accessible and affordable to talented students.
What started as an inspiring campaign to expand our endowed scholarships became a unifying call to action. COVID-19 has brought significant challenges into the lives of Tufts students and their families and dramatically increased the need for financial aid.
These challenge initiatives are needed more than ever amid the coronavirus pandemic. Thank you for providing such an incredible gift to Tufts.
Even in these most trying circumstances, the Tufts community rose to the occasion. This challenge inspired parents, alumni, and friends to establish 40 new scholarships, contribute additional funds to 29 existing scholarships, and add $3.3 million to the annual fund.
I am endlessly grateful for the experiences I have had at Tufts and grateful for the generosity of the Scholarship Challenge.

Without financial aid, I would not be here in the first place. I would not be able to pursue the path I’m pursuing, hopefully as a physician or a researcher, or maybe both. I’m super grateful.

I am a first-generation student, and attending college was always a dream of mine. Being at Tufts has opened my eyes, as well as given me opportunities I would not have received anywhere else. I am truly grateful for my scholarship because it helps me receive such a high-level education with the goal of bettering myself.
The Tufts Promise
For generations, we have worked hard to ensure that talented students, regardless of their financial means, could access a Tufts education, and we’re proud of that history. Today, Tufts anchors that core value in a promise: 100 percent of an undergraduate’s demonstrated financial need will be covered for all four years of college, even if the student’s financial situation changes.
Your gift to Tufts is the key to changing students’ lives—and the world. While the Scholarship Challenge has been met, Tufts students continue to need your support. We hope you’ll consider making a gift to financial aid and help us keep our promise.
