Exploring the powerful connections between people and animals

People and animals have lived side by side for millennia, sharing our homes and communities, yet the science of human-animal relationships is still young. At Tufts Institute for Human-Animal Interaction (TIHAI), researchers are conducting innovative studies of human-animal interactions and developing evidence-based strategies to enhance these important relationships.

TIHAI is a hub for interdisciplinary exploration, tapping Tufts’ strengths in veterinary medicine, psychology, civic studies, public policy, community health and more. Recent projects have explored the benefits of pet ownership, the development of animal-assisted therapies, and the potential for companion animals to reduce stress and improve our physical fitness.

By supporting TIHAI, you help us explore the enduring connections between people and animals and enhance health and well-being for both. Make a gift today.
