20 Years of Research that Strengthens Youth Engagement

CIRCLE, the Center for Information & Research on Civic Learning and Engagement, is a non-partisan, independent research center focused on youth civic engagement in the United States. CIRCLE is a part of the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life at Tufts University.

CIRCLE's bottom line is impact: we judge our work by its ability to effect change, and we direct our resources toward conducting research that will inform and transform concrete action by educators, organizers, policymakers, community leaders and young people themselves.

We leverage our extensive research on youth participation to improve opportunities for young people to acquire, and to use, the skills and knowledge they need to meaningfully participate in civic life—no matter their background or where they live. In all of our work, we are especially concerned with understanding, addressing, and eliminating the systemic barriers that keep some young people marginalized from and underrepresented in civic life.

We rely on the generosity of individual and institutional donors in order to conduct innovative research, expand our partnerships, and increase our impact. Because of philanthropic support like yours we're able to remain independent and to conduct the work that we believe has the highest potential to advance higher and more equitable youth civic education and engagement. Make a gift today.
