Dear Fellow Jumbo Parents,

Welcome to the Tufts family! Your child is about to embark on a journey that will be some of the best years of his or her life. Peter and I became part of the Tufts family four years ago when we brought our son Taylor to the Hill, and were amazed as we watched him learn, grow and mature through an incredible array of academic, athletic and career opportunities provided by this world-class university, We were even happier when our younger son Alex joined the Tufts family and is currently part of the Class of 2022.

From the moment we walked onto the Tufts campus, we knew that our boys had found a “home.” Not only because it is a beautiful setting, but also because we felt the energy and saw the smiles of other students, the passion of the professors, and the respect we felt among all members of this thriving community.

At our initial Parents Leadership Council event, our positive first impressions of the Tufts community grew even stronger. The meetings were energizing and filled with people who love Tufts, love sharing ideas, want to improve the Tufts experience for our children and are committed to its growth and future.

As we did last year, PLC members are invited to attend retreats and host welcome events for incoming students. It is so exciting for the new class each summer. We are also invited to hear renowned speakers through various university programs, of which past examples include Anderson Cooper, Supreme Court Associate Justice Sonia Sotomayor, former Republican senator Jeff Flake, U.S. Representative Ayanna Pressley, Secretary Madeleine Albright and Paul Simon (who performed in honor of Granoff Music Center’s establishment).

Participating in the Parents Giving Program is also an invaluable way of staying connected to and contributing to the future of our children and the future of the Tufts community. We hope that you will join us in this most important initiative.

We, and the dedicated staff of the Parents Giving Program, look forward to meeting all our new family members, seeing our returning families, and sharing this journey together.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or thoughts.
