Tufts Alumni Career Services staff are available to assist alumni during this time of uncertainty. We are sensitive to the life events that take priority right now. We also recognize that as work domains transform, some alumni are feeling insecure about existing roles, are experiencing layoffs and furloughs, and are struggling to navigate a new work environment. The resources below are lifelong and available free of charge. We hope to offer support, not only in the present time, but over the months to come.
CAREER COACHING BY PHONE, ONLINE, EMAIL: Alumni Career Services staff are working remotely to offer career coaching by phone, online and by email to alumni all over the world. Alumni from the undergraduate and graduate schools of Arts & Sciences, Engineering and SMFA are eligible for appointments. Alumni from Tufts’ graduate and professional schools can check on advising options on their school’s career services website.
LIVE WEBINARS FOR JOB SEARCH IN UNCERTAIN TIMES: We’re offering new content and guest speakers who can provide advice about resiliency in the job search, how to navigate the current market, what to do when you are laid off, and other timely topics. Webinars are open to alumni of all Tufts’ schools. All of our webinars are recorded and available on our YouTube playlist. Webinars are on Wednesdays at 1:00-2:15 pm Eastern Time and RSVP is required:

July 1: Job Search in the COVID Era with Leslie Warner, Tufts Alumni Career Services
JOB SEARCH DURING A CRISIS: ORGANIZATIONS ARE STILL HIRING: Many tried-and-true job search tactics will remain the same during a crisis, while other strategies will need modification. While it's true that some companies have paused their hiring processes in response to the current health crisis, many others are still seeking applicants! Here's a collection of articles and resources to help adapt your methods and research companies.
LOST YOUR JOB? FIND A JOB! This often overlooked list of resources includes job search engines, industry research tools, a list of Tufts online communities by geographic location, and tips and samples for enhancing your job search toolkit. Tisch Library also offers online resources, like company databases, that can complement a job search.
TAKE CARE OF MENTAL HEALTH: Tisch College has compiled a list of resources for the Tufts community. It includes articles, organizations, and webinars that aim to promote emotional resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. These resources have been curated and reviewed by Deborah Donahue-Keegan of the Department of Education, who is also associate director of the Tisch College Initiative on Social Emotional Learning and Civic Engagement.
CAREER ENEWS: More than 1500 alumni already subscribe to Career Launch eNews to learn about upcoming career events and new job listings. Many of our listings are posted by Tufts alumni looking to support fellow Jumbos. In the coming months, the newsletter will focus on companies that are hiring now and offer advice for staying active professionally during challenging times.
CONNECTEDNESS: With 17,800+ members, including alumni and students from all Tufts' schools, the purpose of the Tufts Career Networking Group on LinkedIn is to answer your email. Whether you’re looking for advice and/or open to providing advice, connectedness is the code. As a member of the group, you’ll learn about LinkedIn’s learning platform, which is offering webinars for free during this period. If you’re unfamiliar with LinkedIn, schedule a career coaching appointment to learn the basics.
VIRTUAL VOLUNTEERING: Feeling a bit isolated and itching for something to do? In a position to offer advice to current students while they’re adjusting to their new normal? Consider joining The Herd, Tufts’ new alumni-student mentoring platform where you decide how many students you’ll chat with (just one is fine!), how often (just once is OK!), and what type of advice you’re comfortable offering.
OFFER A REMOTE PROJECT FOR A STUDENT: In recent weeks, many Tufts alumni have reached out to ask what they can do to help during the current health crisis. We want to respond to this generous spirit with an innovative idea. If shelter-in-place orders and quarantines continue to cover large portions of the nation, Tufts students may find that internship and other summer work opportunities are being withdrawn or are harder to obtain.
