Ageism in the Media

Wednesday, October 14
8:00pm - 9:00pm ET

Join us for an interactive viewing and discussion of Old Guy, a thought-provoking comedy series exploring how media drives stereotypes about aging.  Produced by Jennifer Burton, Ph.D., A24P, professor of the practice, Film and Media Studies, along with her company, Five Sisters Productions, the series stars Peri Gilpin (Roz from Frasier) and Jennifer’s father, Roger Burton (Shameless, Fargo, Baskets), and is based on Roger’s actual experience of becoming a professional actor in his 70s.  Filmed half in LA and half around the Medford/Somerville campus, the series was a collaboration with Tufts students and faculty, including costume designer Linda Ross Girard (Senior Lecturer, Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies) and actor Sheriden Thomas (Senior Lecturer, Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies).

Please consider contributing to a new scientific study with Montclair State University on our understanding of ageism by taking part in an optional, anonymous, 5-minute, pre event questionnaire. Post-event questionnaire will be shared at the end of the event.  This study has been approved by the Montclair State University Institutional Review Board, Study no. 17-18-924.  Thank you for considering participation in this study.
