Please join the Tufts Alumni International Committee for a thought-provoking two-part discussion on racism in Europe as compared with the USA. We are honored to welcome Khaled Diab, journalist and writer; Ojeaku Nwabuzo, Senior Research Officer at the European Network Against Racism (ENAR); and Remei Sipi, Spanish activist.
During the first hour, Khaled and Ojeaku will provide some insight into the context of racism in Europe and highlight notable differences between racism in Europe and in the USA. Khaled and Ojeaku will then dive into more specific issues such as police brutality, racism as a global pandemic, and structural racism vs. personal prejudice. Moderated by Arielle Fakhraee, E10.
The second part of this discussion will continue with Remei (in Spanish) on discrimination in Spain, focusing in particular on difficulties for immigrants from Latin America and Africa to fully integrate in Spain. Moderated by Marjan White EG82.
*Start Time: 1:00 p.m. EDT / 6:00 p.m. BST / 7:00 p.m. CET*
