Tufts is committed to a bold plan for the future of athletics and recreation facilities. A variety of dramatic improvements will provide an immediate positive impact for our varsity athletics programs, club sports, intramurals, and the entire university community. Already, facility projects have realized major upgrades and improvements to Ellis Oval and field hockey’s Daniel Ounjian Field, and created the new Tufts Squash Center. And we’re just getting started. Find out more about current facilities projects, including Sol Gittleman Park, the new home of Tufts Baseball, and a dedicated Aquatics Center. Keep up with all the good news from Tufts Athletics in the Tufts Athletics Annual Report.

Aquatics Center

It’s time for a championship-level aquatics center to match our championship-level programs. A new facility will bring our Tufts swimming and diving family even closer together by strengthening the bonds between student-athletes, alumni, and coaches, and just as important, by providing a gathering and recreation space for all members of the Tufts community. Join the effort to create this brand-new facility.

Sol Gittleman Park

Our new home for Tufts Baseball continues to take shape. Construction on this project began in the summer of 2022, and the team played—and won—its first game on the new field in March 2023. Remaining upgrades include new bleachers, a press box, and an entrance plaza, with construction to be completed by fall 2023. Help us bring this project home.

What’s Coming Up

We are moving the Vouté Courts at the Tufts Tennis Center to the heart of the Athletics Complex on College Avenue. These eight new courts will be ready for competitive play in fall 2023.  We are also actively fundraising to complete further enhancements to the Ellis Oval Complex (new bleachers, new press box, and landscaping) in Phase II of that project.  Future projects highlighted in the Athletics Facilities Master Plan include a new ice hockey rink and improvements to recreation gyms as part of an expansion of the Steve Tisch Sports and Fitness Center. Details will be posted as the scope and plans for these projects are finalized. To learn more about how you can be involved and ways to support each of these projects, please contact Mark Adzigian, A88, director of development for athletics, at mark.adzigian@tufts.edu or 617-627-0376.
