Dr. Lewis Edgers is Professor Emeritus of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Tufts University. He earned his engineering degrees at Tufts and MIT and has served as a research fellow for extended periods at the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI). A registered professional engineer and a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Prof. Edgers is especially interested in the relationship between people and their environment, natural hazards, and energy systems. He has had significant professional experiences in the Netherlands emerging from his research activities at Tufts, MIT, and Norway. On this program, he will discuss canal systems and Dutch experiences with land reclamation, flood control, and resilient responses to the effects of climate change.
