Executive Committee
Member limit: 14, including the president of the alumni association
Who may join: Alumni Council term members are elected to this committee.
Purpose: Functions on behalf of the Alumni Council in the intervals between the meetings of the Alumni Council, making decisions on programming and services for alumni, and alumni association finances and operations.
Time commitment: 1 hour/month -
Alumni Resources Committee
Member limit: Unlimited
Who may join: Alumni Council members
Purpose: Provides training and orientation for new Council members and helps them become integrated into the organization, assesses the experience of all Council members, and tracks fulfillment of Alumni Council membership obligations.
Time commitment: 9 hours/year (including 3 hours in spring) -
Audit Committee
Member limit: Unlimited
Who may join: Alumni Council members
Purpose: Reviews and audits the financial affairs of the Association
Time commitment: 1 hour/quarter -
Awards Committee
Member limit: Unlimited
Who may join: Alumni Council members
Purpose: Selects the recipients of the Senior Awards and Distinguished Alumni Awards and plans the events to honor the recipients.
Time commitment: 2 hours/quarter (includes a 2-hour award ceremony in the fall and another in the spring, two 1.5-hour selection meetings) -
Development Committee
Member limit: Unlimited
Who may join: Alumni Council members
Purpose: Advocates for alumni giving to Tufts and helps create a culture of philanthropy in the Tufts community.
Time commitment: 7 hours/year (including 4 hours for meetings and preparation, 3 hours for outreach and follow up) -
Finance Committee
Member limit: Unlimited
Who may join: Alumni Council members
Purpose: Creates and supervises the annual budget
Time commitment: 14 hours/year (includes 3 hours in fall/winter, 8 hours in Feb/March, 3 hours in spring) -
Governance Committee
Member limit: Unlimited
Who may join: Alumni Council members
Purpose: Works on issues relating to the governance, operations and compliance of the Alumni Council and its committees.
Time commitment: 3 hours/quarter -
International Committee
Member limit: Unlimited
Who may join: Any alum
Purpose: Serves as a liaison to chapters, organizations, and individuals serving alumni outside of the United States and works closely with the global programming efforts of the Office of Alumni Engagement.
Time commitment: 4-6 hours/year -
Nominating Committee
Member limit: 10-12, including at least one from the College of Liberal Arts, Jackson College, College of Engineering, School of Medicine, School of Dental Medicine, Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, and the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.
Who may join: Alumni Council members
Purpose: Responsible for nominating candidates for election to the Alumni Council and the Tufts University Board of Trustees, and for overseeing annual alumni elections.
Time commitment: 1 hour/month (including four 1-hour meetings, two 2-hour selection meetings, 4 hours for outreach and follow up)
