New Spirit Songs

Tufts University needs a new spirit song to bring the school into the 21st Century. The school’s best-known song, Tuftonia’s Day dates back to 1912. Our “youngest” spirit song, the Jumbo Victory March, was written in 1945, and mentions only football, Tufts men, and coaches. We think all our teams deserve to be included.

The Competition

To address this, the Tufts University Alumni Association is sponsoring a Spirit Song Competition. Open to all students and alumni from all Tufts schools, the contest seeks both a new and an updated song to add to the Tufts repertoire in the following two categories:

$1,000 Prize | A new, original spirit song (original words and music) of any genre

$500 Prize | Updating an existing Tufts spirit song with new words, creating a new version of the song and bringing it up-to-date

The winning songs will be premiered at the Tuftonia’s Day celebration on campus held on Friday, April 27th, 2018.
