During my time at Tufts, I double majored in Engineering Psychology and Biomedical Engineering. I had a few work-study jobs across campus, including one at the Campus Center Information Booth. I was also on the executive board at WMFO, and an Arts Editor for The Tufts Daily. I like to think that all of these activities brought students together for something fun or to give them the information they needed to succeed. Volunteering with Tufts has given me the opportunity to keep doing those things.

I first became involved with Tufts Alumni Boston when one of my good friends told me about the opportunity. After volunteering for two years, I am the President and oversee the direction of the group. Over time, I’ve tried to grow our committee and get more people connected. That’s why I enjoy this role – the local network of this university has helped me beyond measure, and I want to make sure I can help others by bringing Jumbos together for both fun and educational events.

My role involves a lot of event planning. I spend time brainstorming, contacting vendors/venues, organizing details, and facilitating events to make sure everyone has a great time. I also draw from my role as a Senior User Experience Researcher at HubSpot in Cambridge, MA to grow our active volunteers and understand what our “user base” (basically the largest local group of alumni) wants to do in their spare time.

Every time I meet a new member of our community who enjoyed their experience at one of our events is memorable – it reminds me why I do what I do. I am so grateful for everything I got out of this university; I want to make sure I take the time to give back. I do this through my annual gift, but I also do it by volunteering for Tufts Alumni Boston.

There are many ways you can get involved, so if volunteering with and for your fellow Jumbos is a priority for you, don’t be a stranger; reach out at tuftsalumniboston@gmail.com and join us!
